Mercari Fee Calculator
Enter the item price and the shipping the buyer pays and see the Mercari selling fee, your payout and your real profit. The 10% is charged on item plus shipping, which many calculators miss. It also works backwards from the profit you want, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

| Buyer Protection fee paid by the buyer (informational) | 3.6% | Oct 26, 2026 |

| Selling fee on item price + buyer-paid shipping | 10% | Oct 26, 2026 |
How these numbers are modelled
- US sellers only, current rule: a 10% selling fee on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays, for listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025. There is no separate payment processing fee and no fixed fee.
- Direct deposit is free; Instant Pay costs a flat amount per cash-out, so it is an optional line. The Buyer Protection fee is paid by the buyer and is shown only for information.
- Not modelled: the cancelation fee (only charged for frequent cancelations), Authenticate fees, legacy listings created before January 6, 2025 that have not been updated yet, and sales tax (not part of the fee).
How it is calculated
Selling fee = 10% x (item price x quantity + shipping the buyer pays), rounded to the cent. Mercari charges no separate payment processing fee and no fixed fee. Instant Pay adds a flat $3 only if you cash out that way. The 3.6% Buyer Protection fee is paid by the buyer and is shown for information only. Net payout = item price x quantity + shipping charged - fees. Profit = net payout - item cost x quantity - shipping you pay.
All math runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent to our server. Each line is rounded to the cent and amounts are shown in the currency of the selected country, never mixed.
What Mercari takes from a sale
Mercari's seller fee is short. Since January 6, 2025 it is 10% on new and updated listings, and the help page says it applies to the item price and buyer-paid shipping. Mercari states that no separate payment processing fee applies, and there is no fixed fee per order. Money reaches you by direct deposit for free, or by Instant Pay for a flat $3 per cash-out. This calculator shows the fee, your payout, and your profit after item cost and the shipping you pay.
The traps to watch
- Shipping is in the fee base. The 10% is charged on item price plus buyer-paid shipping. A $20.00 item with $5.00 shipping pays 10% of $25.00, which is $2.50.
- No processing fee on top. Unlike many platforms there is no extra percentage and no fixed amount, so you do not need to add a second fee in your head.
- The buyer pays 3.6% too. Buyer Protection is 3.6% of item plus buyer-paid shipping, paid by the buyer. It does not reduce your payout, but it makes the buyer total higher than your price, which matters when you compare with a cheaper listing.
- Instant Pay costs $3 each time. It is per cash-out, up to $600 per month, not per sale. Cash out several sales together and the cost per sale falls.
- Cancelations. Mercari describes a fee of 5% of the item price, maximum $25, for frequent cancelations. It is a note, not a normal fee.
Worked examples
All figures are from our checked test cases.
| Case | Selling fee | Payout | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| $0.99 item, no shipping | $0.10 | $0.89 | $0.89 (no cost entered) |
| $20.00 item + $5.00 shipping | $2.50 | $22.50 | $22.50 (no cost entered) |
| $100.00 item, cost $30.00 | $10.00 | $90.00 | $60.00 |
Now add real costs. Take the $20.00 item with $5.00 shipping charged, an item cost of $8.00, $5.00 paid for the label, and a cash-out by Instant Pay. Fees are $2.50 plus $3.00, so $5.50. Your payout is $19.50 and your profit is $6.50, a 26% margin. The $3 cash-out fee took a large bite from one small sale.
Price needed for the profit you want
Because the fee is taken from item plus shipping, you cannot just add the fee to your costs. Fill in the profit box and the calculator solves for the item price. For an item that cost $12.00, with $5.00 shipping charged and $5.00 paid, and a goal of $10.00 profit, the price is $25.00. Set a margin goal instead and it gives the price for that percentage.
How the calculator works, step by step
First it adds the item price, multiplied by the quantity, to the shipping the buyer pays. It takes 10% of that total and rounds to the cent: that is the selling fee. If you tick Instant Pay it adds the flat $3. Your payout is the item price plus the shipping charged, minus those fees. Your profit is the payout minus what the items cost you and minus the shipping you actually pay for the label. Buyer Protection is calculated for information only and never touches your numbers. Every line is shown separately, so you can check it against your own Mercari sales history.
What this calculator does not model
- Legacy listings created before January 6, 2025, which followed older rules.
- The Authenticate fee ($5) and the Authenticate Certificate fee ($10).
- Sales tax, failed deposit charges, and income tax on your profit.
- Your time, packaging and promotions.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Mercari selling fee?
Mercari charges a 10% selling fee on the item price and buyer-paid shipping for new and updated listings, effective January 6, 2025. On a $20.00 item with $5.00 shipping the fee is $2.50 and you receive $22.50. Checked October 26, 2026.
Does Mercari charge a payment processing fee?
No. Mercari states that no separate payment processing fee applies, and there is no fixed per-order fee either. The 10% selling fee is the whole seller fee, apart from optional extras like Instant Pay. Checked October 26, 2026.
Is shipping included in the 10%?
Yes, when the buyer pays for shipping. The fee is 10% of item price plus buyer-paid shipping. A $20.00 item with $5.00 shipping is a $25.00 fee base, so the fee is $2.50. Checked October 26, 2026.
What does the buyer pay on top?
The buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee of 3.6% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. On the $25.00 example that is $0.90. It is paid by the buyer, not deducted from you, and the calculator shows it for information only. Checked October 26, 2026.
How much does Instant Pay cost?
Instant Pay is a flat $3 per cash-out, up to $600 a month. Direct deposit costs $0, though a failed deposit costs $2. Because the $3 is per cash-out, withdrawing several sales at once spreads it. Checked October 26, 2026.
What is the Mercari cancelation fee?
Mercari describes a fee of 5% of the item price, with a maximum of $25, for frequent cancelations. It is not part of a normal sale, so it is not in the calculator. Checked October 26, 2026.
What would I make on a $100 item?
With no shipping charged, the fee is $10.00 and your payout is $90.00. If the item cost you $30.00, your profit is $60.00, a 60% margin. Checked October 26, 2026.
What price do I list to reach a target profit?
Use the profit box. For an item that cost $12.00 with $5.00 shipping charged and paid, and a goal of $10.00 profit, list at $25.00..
What about a 99 cent item?
A $0.99 item with no shipping pays a fee of $0.10, leaving a payout of $0.89. Mercari has no fixed fee, so very cheap items are not penalised the way a flat fee would. Checked October 26, 2026.
Are my numbers saved or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. The copy link button puts your inputs in the link you copy so you can share a scenario, and that link is not stored on our server.
